The winners, distinguished for innovative products in advanced design and manufacturing, were celebrated at Pacific Design & Manufacturing this week.

The editors of Design News, during a live ceremony held earlier tonight at the Pacific Design & Manufacturing Show in Anaheim, Calif., announced the winners of the 2018 annual Golden Mousetrap Awards, the Gadget Freak of the Year award, and also honored Dr. John B. Goodenough, inventor of the lithium-ion battery, with the Lifetime Acheivement Award.

The Golden Mousetrap Awards recognize companies and individuals that are not only reaching the pinnacle of achievement in their respective fields, but are also pushing the envelope on what is possible within the industry as a whole. Submissions were open to all individuals and companies willing to showcase their latest innovative products in the advanced design and manufacturing fields. The award winners were chosen by an expert panel of judges based on design and engineering innovation, functional innovation, benefits to user, market differentiation, and competitive landscape.

“This year’s Golden Mousetrap award winners truly embody the growth and innovation that we’re seeing in engineering and manufacturing right now, which was certainly evidenced by the volume and quality of submissions we received this year,” said Suzanne Deffree, content director and editor-in-chief of UBM’s Design News. “That said, our winners stood apart from the competition for their ingenuity and creativity. We at Design News and UBM look forward to seeing what our winners have in store and how they continue to support the growth of engineering and manufacturing.”
