Larry D. Smith has pioneered power integrity (PI) analysis solutions since he first published on the same at EPEP in 1994, says his nominator. Since then, he has been a high-quality, steady, and consistent contributor on the topic in both published papers and at DesignCon, hence this year marks 30 years of PI pioneering. In 2017, he published a well-received book on PI with Eric Bogatin.
Smith is the quintessential engineer, explaining ideas and concepts clearly while always backing up what he says with measured and computational data. Smith has worked at a variety of companies and contributed to our understanding of PI at the PCB, IC, and system levels. He holds numerous patents and awards. Smith was there when the term power integrity was invented – though he had already been at it for 10 years.
