Walter Katz develops software tools that analyze the signal integrity and timing of digital electronic communications, specializing in signal integrity, timing analysis, SerDes, IBIS, AMI, SPICE, and simulation, S-parameters.
Katz is a legend in our industry, according to his nominator, who was among those who invented automated PCB layout tools in the '70s and '80s. He continues to consistently contribute to the engineering world through various committees (802, IBIS, etc.) and forums, and he still develops design tools useful to all engineers. Katz is a “go to” guy for all things layout who has worked in the signal integrity (SI) field since the 1970s. He is the type of engineer who is always noodling on some idea or problem. Katz is always engineering – whether it’s some SI/PI/EQ problem or a better way to keep clever squirrels out of his bird feeders. In that sense, Katz's long and decorated engineering career is something all of us can look up to, honor, and learn from.
