Steve Sandler has been involved with power system engineering for more than 40 years. He is the founder of PICOTEST.com, a company specializing in power integrity solutions including measurement products, services, and training. He frequently lectures and leads workshops internationally on the topics of power, PDN, and distributed systems and is a Keysight-certified expert for EDA software. Sandler frequently writes articles and books related to power supply and PDN performance and his book, Power Integrity Using ADS, was published by Faraday Press in 2019. Sandler founded AEi Systems, a well-established leader in worst-case circuit analysis and troubleshooting of high reliability systems.
According to his nominators, Sandler is one of the biggest names in the power integrity field, and his contributions to now standard power integrity methodologies, state-space VRM modeling, stability, worst-case analysis, etc. influences any engineer who does this kind of work. He does such a good job blending advanced high-level theory with day-to-day engineering practice. Very few possess his competence to both simulate and measure!
Sandler teaches some of the premier courses on power integrity topics and has created software and test equipment to improve engineers ability to make things that work. He invests time teaching and mentoring the younger generation of engineers, and his overall generosity and contributions to the industry are so broad in scope that it’s difficult to quantify.
Sandler is a long-time and very active member of the DesignCon Technical Program Committee and received a DesignCon 2017 Best Paper Award for his paper, “Characterizing and Selecting the VRM.” For DesignCon 2023, Sandler is planning to speak at a tutorial, present two papers, participate in a panel, and a Chiphead Theater session on PDN impedance and calibration basics. You can see his session details on the online agenda.
