Powder produces motors

Hoeganaes Corp. has under development an insulated powder material, Ancorsteel(reg) LCM (low core loss material), that allows for the production of motors operating at the most commonly used frequency of 60 Hz. Hoeganaes' Insulated Powder (IP), introduced two years ago, had been applicable only for ac electric devices operating at frequencies of 200 to 400 Hz. Like its IP predecessor, LCM offers the major advantage of producing ac electric devices as single parts having the same insulating properties as the stacked, laminated steel pieces used in motor design.
