C2100-64 Compact Vacuum Conveyor Transports Pharmaceuticals and Powders

PIAB released its new C2100-64, a hygienic vacuum conveyor system for transporting powder, granules and tablets.

“What’s new about this conveyor is it’s very compact,” says Eleanor Bjork, product manager for PIAB vacuum conveyors. “It’s made for areas or industries that have limited ceiling space.”

The new C2100-64 is the first hygienic conveyor to incorporate PIAB’s patented COAX multi-stage ejector technology, a nozzle that consumes less energy and air than other conveyors. “You don’t need as much power to drive this pump, so with less compressed air you have the same amount of capacity,” says Bjork.

Using COAX, the C2100-64 improves the vacuum-assisted flow by 25 percent and can move 1-1.5 tons of powders and granules per hour. “It’s a pneumatic and vacuum pump, so when you’re running the pump you create vacuum inside the conveyor,” says Bjork.

The C2100-64 can handle powders as small as .5 microns, which is the smallest recommended size for the Mahle filter used in the conveyor. The conveyor also features a compact filter shock for cleaning the filter.

The C2100-64 is constructed of stainless steel and has a working temperature between 0 and 60C. The conveyor is suitable for the pharmaceutical and food industries. The C2100-64 is FDA-approved and follows USDA standards, though it is not officially USDA-approved.

The C2100-64 from PIAB features COAX technology to more efficiently hold a vacuum seal.
