Modeling Tool Enables Design Engineers to Create Virtual 3D Connector Models

This capability builds on ITT Interconnect Solutions'existing web-based configuration technology and unique single field search,which allows users to utilize a single interface to search for commercial,industrial, medical, military, aerospace and hi-reliability interconnectproducts. With the 3D modeling tool, design engineers can select from variousoutput model formats, such as STEP,Pro/E, Shrinkwrap STL and IGES, provided therequested product represents a standard configured item. The 3D modelingcapability is currently available for ITT's 38999 Series III connectors. ITT iscontinuously adding product lines to the 3D modeling system.

The service isavailable to registered users of the ITT Cannon website. Once signed into the site,customers can directly query their requested standard product using the singlesearch field capability. Within the summarized output, registered users candirectly request the generation of a 3D solid model. A number ofindustry-standard formats are available. The downloadable files are then obtainedvia a system-supplied e-mail link. The customer simply clicks through the linkto download the design package as a .zip file, which is then easily importedinto their own CAD system for prototyping in products.
