SOFTWARE PACKAGE

With symbol library

A new software package that allows engineers to design professional-looking front panels for homemade or small production run devices, FrontDesigner features a range of drawing functions for rectangles, polygons, ellipses, labels, drillings, etc., and all objects can be grouped into complex symbols. Specialized functions cope with rotation, stretching, mirroring, drilling, and milling. Rounded and interpolated contours are possible as well as chamfers. Users can print out a mirror image on transparent film so the symbols won't wear off when it is mounted. Saelig Co. Inc.

FEA SOFTWARE

For virtual testing

The company's next finite element analysis (FEA) software release, V17.1, is designed to help companies virtually test and predict real-world behavior of new and existing product designs; speed up time to market; and make better, safer products at a lower cost. It features an easy-to-use single user interface that provides direct CAD/CAE data exchange and full associativity with most CAD solid modelers. This enables users to choose the analysis tools they need. ALGOR Inc.

INDUSTRIAL MOTHERBOARD

Offers scalable solutions

The industrial motherboard EMB-900M is reportedly the first board that supports the Intel® 915GV Express chipset, and the first time that the company uses the MicroATX format with an ISA bus slot. It is designed to offer a scalable solution across different processing speeds, as well as provide an improved performance over previous solutions. It is suitable for a variety of applications, including high-end POS/KIOSK and Gigabit fire wall and security applications. AAEON

CAD PACKAGE

Drag-and-drop symbols

SPlan is a CAD package that is engineered for quickly and neatly drawing electronic and electric circuit diagrams. Equipped with drawing and editing functions for efficient circuit design, the package also includes features such as automatic component numbering and auto-generation of components lists. It is designed to create high-quality printouts that can be previewed to adjust scale and position of the print. Users can drag and drop symbols from the library to the diagram, and symbols lock to a grid. Other features include components list, component library, and automatic numbering. Saelig Co. Inc.

SOFTWARE

Supports synchronization

The FeatureCAM software release features a new 4-axis functionality that is seamlessly integrated into the product's existing turning programs. Combined with its new full machine simulation, synchronized turning provides users with full program control and cycle time reduction. It supports synchronization, follow turning, and pinch turning. Machines with dual spindles and up to four turrets, common in production turning environments such as automotive and aerospace manufacturing, can be programmed. In addition, the machine simulation is engineered to allow setup attributes for each type of machine, including horsepower and preferred feeds and speeds. Engineering Geometry Systems

SOFTWARE

Frequency adjusted independently

AudioWave2.0 software is designed to turn a user's sound card into an easy-to-use digitally controlled LF signal generator, producing signals from 1 Hz to 20 kHz with a resolution of 1 Hz. Phase shift between left and right channel is adjustable from -180 to +180 degrees, and an attenuator can be used for steps of 0, -3, -6, -10, -20, and -30 dB. Frequency, level, and attenuation can be adjusted independently for left and right channel, which can be ganged as an option. Saelig Co. Inc.

SERVICE PACK

Support for AutoCAD

The latest service pack from the company is designed to add support for AutoCAD version 2006 and Autodesk Inventor version 10. It provides native viewing, printing, markup, digital mock-up, and real-time collaboration support for engineering drawings, 2D CAD, 3D CAD parts and assemblies, PCB layouts and schematics, and office documents. It is available as a Desktop Edition and a Client-Server Edition for Windows or UNIX servers. Cimmetry Systems

NETWORKING SOLUTION

Cost-effective real-time system

SMLC-Lite is designed as a cost-effective motion, logic, HMI, and networking solution for one- to 3.5-axis systems. It lowers system costs and reduces complexity using off-the-shelf components, IEC 61131-3 languages, and powerful motion software. It features the QNX real-time operating system. The use of a RTOS facilitates the integration of new functionality and eases product life cycle maintenance by allowing for easy migration to new and more powerful hardware platforms as they become available. MECHAWARE SOFTWARE

Brings motion control algorithm development to machine builders

MechaWare is designed to be used with all SynqNet® motion controllers. MechaWare is a plug-in library for the Matlab/Simulink environment, and allows quick drag and drop, and the use of interrelate function blocks to develop the right motion control loop. MechaWare works with any SynqNet XMP or ZMP type controller for up to 32 axes of control. Once a model is "built" in the workspace, compatible control code is automatically generated and downloaded to a controller for immediate simulation techniques or real-world testing. Models developed on one platform can then be easily modified and extended over an entire machine product family via the MechaWare API that works with the Motion Programming Interface (MPI). MechaWare works with Matlab version 12.1 and higher running on Windows® NT, XP, or 2000, and only requires a SynqNet controller and associated programming libraries for implementation. SOFTWARE

For experiments with counters

Digital-ProfiLab is engineered to combine features like circuit, logic and front-panel simulation, and hardware control in one tool for measurement and control applications. Incoming signals from external control or measurement equipment can be processed and displayed. A circuit editor is used to enter a user's application without any programming knowledge required, and projects are designed to be controlled from a user-editable "front panel." The product is fit for quick experiments with counters, gates, registers, etc. Saelig Co. Inc.

SOFTWARE SOLUTION

Variety of new products

The newest Autodesk products are designed to make it easier and faster for manufacturers to turn their ideas into real products by better creating, managing, and sharing design information. New products include Autodesk Inventor® Series 10, Autodesk Inventor® Professional 10, AutoCAD® Mechanical 2006, AutoCAD® Electrical 2006, Autodesk® Vault 4, Autodesk Productstream® 4, Autodesk Streamline® 7, and Autodesk DWF®. These software solutions are meant to help users design better quality products, accelerate time to market, and achieve maximum project visibility and collaboration. Autodesk Inc.

SPREADSHEET TECHNOLOGY

Increases simulation speed

The company's PSI (polymorphic spreadsheet interpreter) Technology has been licensed for Crystal Ball 7.1, boosting calculations by as much as 100 times faster than the Microsoft Excel recalculator. It enables a new design that assigns several, higher-level "meanings" to the formulas in a user's spreadsheet model. PSI is now the default option in Crystal Ball 7.1, although the Excel recalculator is also available. Frontline

FEA SOFTWARE SOLUTION

Provides constraint-based environment

Engineered to use geometric dimensions and constraints to provide the parametric sketching capabilities that have become fundamental in design engineering, the 2D DCM is a robust, industry-tested solution that is an alternative to resource-intensive in-house development. It will be used in ABAQUS/CAE, the modeling and visualization environment for ABAQUS®suite of finite element analysis software. The integration is designed to provide a constraint-based sketching environment, thus enhancing its usability and parametric modeling capabilities. PLM Components
