Installing an Energy-Efficient Washer – Whirlpool’s Duet WFW9400S

In an attempt to reduce the energy hemorrhaging from my new house, I intentionally selected the most energy-efficient appliances I could afford, starting with washing machines. I looked at three energy-star-certified front-loading washers: Whirlpool’s Duet (WFW9400S), LG’s Tromm (WM2277H), and GE’s Profile (WPGT9360EPL).

Based on consumer reviews posted at www.consumersearch.com and Whirlpool’s reputation for quality washing machines, I bought the WFW9400. To begin my metamorphosis into a do-it-yourself homeowner, I even installed the washer myself.

Once I run a few loads of clothing through the Whirlpool, I will report on its performance. For now, I’m still digging out of the mess generated from the move.
