Does Daylight Saving Time Save Energy?

Daylight saving time may not cut energy usage, a new study says. According to an article published in The Wall Street Journal, two economics professors at the University of California-Santa Barbara used data from seven million monthly meter readings in Indiana to determine whether changing the clocks (which occurs on Sunday, March 9^th) has an energy benefit. They found that having the entire state of Indiana switch to daylight saving time cost Indiana households an additional $8.6 million in electricity bills.
