Mercedes-Benz recently debuted its Bluetec emission-control technology in Europe with its Vision C 220 Bluetec, which uses a four-cylinder diesel engine. The vehicle is designed to be a high-mileage, low-emissions passenger car that saves fuel and reduces CO2 and NOx output. While the Bluetec technology was first rolled out in the U.S. with the six-cylinder E 320 version, Bluetec engineering was developed to meet European market requirements that will go into effect in 2015. The new four-cylinder version further reduces emission and ups the gas mileage to just under 43 mpg.
