Dow Plans Major Use of Social Media at K2010

Dow Chemical will make major use of social media at K2010, a  trade show for polymers that will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany starting Oct. 27.

  • Updates will be posted on Twitter @DowK2010.

  • You can participate in interactive discussions at http://www.facebook.com/DowK2010.

  • During and following K 2010, you can watch the Dow YouTube channel for daily video news updates.

If any of these social media channels are new to you can go to Dow’s “About Social Media” page for guides on how to access and use Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

This is, of course, a great idea because not that many Americans or engineers outside of Europe in general can take the time or afford the considerable expense of attending the K Fair. And even if you are going to the Fair, it’s difficult and time-consuming to navigate the crowded Messe of nearly 20 buildings thronged with people, including families who pay a fee to pick up giveaway plastic merchandise (mostly bins and buckets) produced by exhibitors to show off new machinery or resins.

The test, of course, is too see how interesting the Dow info is. Will it be so marketing focused that it’s not worth while?

You can keep your eyes on www.designnews.com for my reports from the show. I’ll be posting news reports and blog entries while I’m there. You can follow my K (and other) reports on Twitter @plasticsblogger.

This is really great. I first attended a K Fair in 1986. Readers had to wait two or three months for the print magazines’ for reports from the show.
