Firebrand Offers Free Training for Life

Entering any high-tech field can be time consuming, expensive, and overwhelming. But Firebrand wants to immerse one lucky lottery winner in the high-demand IT world with free tech training for life.

Firebrand offers networking and security certification for many types of networks including Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, Autodesk, and Linux. It works alongside the International Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), a nonprofit organization specializing in information security education and certification. Firebrand is also affiliated with the Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA), an international professional association focused on IT governance.

With these professionals leading you, you could become a Certified Information Security Manager, which has been statistically shown to be the highest-paid position in IT.

The global recession at the end of the last decade left gaps that are quickly filling up with tech jobs and industries. From Silicon Valley to the European Union, some of the most in-demand jobs are opening up in the security and IT fields. In the UK, experts predict that there will be a 700,000-job shortage in qualified IT staff by 2015, since IT jobs have grown by 3 percent since the recession. The situation is so severe that the UK has declared this shortage a danger to national security.

Entering the lottery is simple. Just go to the Firebrand website and fill out a short application. When you register, you get a personal URL that you can share with your friends. For every person who enters the lottery through your URL, you get another entry.

If you are the lucky winner, you will enter your choice of Firebrand accelerated programs. Once you get certified for one system, you can move on to the next. The drawing will be held Friday, Sept. 13.

Firebrand training consists of accelerated learning methods that include a mix of hands-on, tactile sessions, visual learning on a whiteboard, along with discussions and auditory review. Certification is granted after two to 15 classes, depending on the course.

The training could be worth $22,000 per year -- or about a million dollars spread out over a couple decades. Firebrand is looking for a highly motivated individual who is already involved in the IT world, but entries do not require previous experience.
