FFLI Film Capacitor Designed for DC Filtering

AVX Corp. has developed a powerfilm capacitor series specifically for dc filtering applications. Designatedthe FFLI Series, the advanced power film capacitor has a life expectancy of100,000 hours, and unlike aluminum electrolytic devices, the FFLI Seriesdevices employ controlled self healing where end-of-life is defined as the timetaken for the capacitance to lose about 5 percent of its nominal value.

The FFLISeries power film capacitors feature CV ratings of up to 3000F and 1900V dc/100Arms,and can operate in temperatures of up to 95C. Qualified to IEC 61071 for powerelectronic capacitors, the FFLI Series also meets IEC 60068-1 environmentaltesting requirements and IEC 61373 shock and vibration tests.

AVX's new film metalizedproducts are useful for use in modular banks of capacitors for applications,such as solar panel installations or wind turbine energy generators.
