Short Videos and Free Training for Mechatronics Designers

Thomson Industries has four new videos available for engineers who want to learn more about motion control:

1. The Industrial Linear Actuators vs. Hydraulic Systems video highlights how the use of electric actuators can simplify a design, save money, and improve safety. The presenter also contrasts linear actuators with an equivalent hydraulic linear actuator.

2. The Square Rails and Round Rails presentation addresses differences between each type of rails and reviews when to use each in your system based on design requirements.

3. The Ball Screws video delivers basic installation information for ball screws and ball nuts.

4. The Gearheads, Wrap Springs and Friction Clutches video helps viewers see and understand the differences between friction and wrap spring clutches, brakes, and gearheads.

Of course, these short videos use Thomson products, but you can use the information with other equipment, too.

If you want longer and in-depth training, you will find a series of 19 webinars on the Thomson Web site at: http://www.thomsonlinear.com/website/com/eng/support/education_training/training_webinars_english_na.php. These programs cover linear bearings and guides, ball and lead screws, linear-motion systems, actuators, planetary gearheads, and clutches and brakes.  I watched several of the short videos and found value in each one. –Jon Titus
