Selecting and developing the right materials for future tech products and systems, whether they are based on plastic, steel, or other materials, is becoming increasingly important given a scarcity of some minerals, supply-chain issues, and engineering limitations. Materials engineering is not as well-known as other engineering specialties, but will nevertheless play in important role alongside electrical, mechanical, and chemical engineers in both near-term and long-term research and development.
