Miniature AHRS with Onboard GPS

MicroStrain's 3DM-GX3-35 is aminiature, lightweight sensor (23 g) featuring an attitude heading referencesystem (AHRS) and an onboard global positioning system (GPS) receiver. The AHRS and the GPS can independently provide time correlated measurements isuseful for applications where users are implementing their own host basedGPS/INS Kalman Filter. By migrating to the 3DM-GX3-35, users of the3DM-GX3-25 AHRS can add GPS functionality while retaining the same smallfootprint.

The 3DM-GX3-35 is fully calibrated and temperaturecompensated throughout its operating range of -40 to +65C. Users areprovided the option to specify sensor ranges including plus or minus 5, plus or minus 1.7, plus or minus 16, or plus or minus 50 gaccelerometers, and 50 degrees /sec, 300 degrees /sec, 600 degrees /sec and 1200 degrees /sec angular ratesensors.

A new application programming interface (API) offers3DM-GX3-35 users added features such as the ability to customize data messagesfor specific quantities at mixed data rates. This unprecedented user controlwill allow for more accurate, tailored and robust data, as well as eliminateextraneous information and data. An innovative new synchronized timestamping feature provides attitude and GPS data correlated in time for improveddata analysis. The new API is ready for the next generation of integratedinertial sensors, yet is also backward compatible allowing users to leverageexisting code with minimal modification. This integrated inertial/GPS unit isuseful for personnel tracking, platform stabilization, automotive and unmannedvehicles.
