Night vision goggles allow soldiers to operate effectively in low-light conditions, giving them a tactical advantage during night missions.
Soldiers carry advanced first aid kits and medical supplies to treat injuries on the battlefield, including tourniquets, hemostatic agents, and airway management tools.
No more fumbling with cryptic maps. Soldiers now have access to GPS devices, compasses, and mapping tools to help them navigate through unfamiliar terrain, plan routes, and coordinate movements.
Drones now help soldiers in reconnaissance purposes, enabling them to gather intelligence and assess threats from a safe distance. These drones, which can be armed with missiles, have extended the reach of soldiers, allowing them to engage enemies from a distance.
The Army is testing the use of exoskeletons to help soldiers carry heavy equipment. This technology could significantly reduce the physical strain on soldiers and increase their endurance.
The military is using AR and VR for equipment training, flight training, and weapons training. These tools can reduce the cost of preparing soldiers to meet conditions that can’t be replicated in the real world outside of actual combat.
The Army is developing robotic combat vehicles that can be remotely operated, reducing the risk to soldiers
The military is using AI to help process information in real time, such as sifting through satellite images and drone video fields. AI is assisting autonomous unmanned platforms, allowing soldiers to engage enemies without putting themselves at risk.

Wars, unfortunately, remain a fact of life in a rapidly changing and sometimes unstable world. Technology has played great role in changing how conflicts between nations are handled. But still, these conflicts all too often require manned soldiers to be out in the field keeping an eye on the enemy.
What has helped is that technology is making the soldier’s task more manageable. Better uniforms and armor abound, and technology is enabling soldiers to better receive warnings of impending danger and communicate with others.
Technology has significantly changed what soldiers carry into the battlefield, enhancing their capabilities and survivability. The following gallery has examples.
