Shaft Grounding Bearing Isolator

The GarlockSGiShaft Grounding Bearing Isolator is a seal to protect bearings from electricaldamage as well as from lubricant loss and contamination. The Garlock SGiismaintenance-free and combines the Garlock Guardiannon-sparkingbronze labyrinth seal and the Aegis shaft grounding ring.

The Garlock SGi diverts harmful currentsto ground, bypassing the bearings and extending motor life. The Aegis FiberLockChannel built into the Garlock SGi permanently secures circumferential rows ofconductive microfibers, preventing their dislocation and the resultingaccidental contamination of the bearing. The microfibers allow flexibility toprevent breakage.

Designed for long-term total bearingprotection, the SGi also has an IP56 non-contact isolation seal to withstanddust and powerful jetting liquids. It replaces contact lip seals andtraditional bearing isolators used in industrial applications and withstands operatingtemperatures from -22 to 300F. The unit is available for motor-shaft sizesranging from 0.875 to 6 inches in flanged, flangeless and customconfigurations.

It is suited for motors controlled byvariable frequency drives (VFDs) running pumps, fans, high-speed spindles andother equipment in "severe-duty" applications such as mining and the processingof pulp/paper, food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and water/wastewater.
