Differential Pressure Sensor for Liquids and Gases

American Sensor Technologies, Inc.'s AST5400wet / wet differential pressure sensor can measure line pressures up to 2,000PSI with a turndown ratio of 15 to 1 and developed to bring the features ofdifferential pressure sensors to the process industry market.

UsingKrystal Bond Technology, the AST5400contains no silicone oil, O-rings or welds. This MEMS pressure sensortechnology completely isolates the media to the pressure ports to eliminatingcontamination risk. The low strain level on the diaphragm results in accurate, repeatable measurements. This differential pressure sensor, with its high linepressure capability, can be installed into systems without five way equalizationvalves.

TheAST5400replaces systems that use two gauge pressure sensors to calculate differentialpressure and the accuracy or in-accuracy, of two sensor systems is additive, and can increase performance over temperature.

Usersof differential pressure switches can use the sensor to monitor systemperformance and trends in applications requiring a high turn-down and highcycle performance. Alarm functions can be added through most controllers, thusobsoleting the switch.

TheAST5400 differential pressure sensor can be used to measure differentialpressure across a filter, monitor level in a sealed or vented tank or calculateflow across an orifice plate. With digital compensation, the AST5400series offers excellent linearity and performance over temperature. The electronicsoffer a fail safe condition on the output signal. If the transducer were toexperience a fault condition, the transducer can be programmed to rail theoutput signal to 10 percent below the minimum or 10 percent above maximumoutput signal to notify the user of an issue and protect the system fromundesirable conditions.
