Electro Standards Lab' Fiber232 Models 4137EU & 4139EU with 2-pin European power supplies are used to connect fiber optic linked terminals to acontroller having an RS-232 interface port.

HP Fiber to RS232 Convertersconvert RS-232 Serial Communication Interface to HPVersatile Link Plastic Core Cable providing fullgalvanic isolation (no metallic connection) between connected devices. This allows the interference-free fiberoptical transfer of data to be utilized by the device having an RS-232interface. The converter has a data transfer rate up to 120 Kbps. Model 4137EU utilizes an RJ45 connector andModel 4139EU has a DB9 connector for RS232 connection.

The RS-232 allows datatransmission that is not susceptible to electrostatic or electromagnetic fieldsand the ports of the connected terminals are protected from damage by potentialdifferences (ground variations). The converter is useful for internationallottery or casino type network applications.
