DynaMotors Inc. Introduces First Production DynaMotor

ELECTRONICS: DynaMotors Inc announced its first production motor in a new family of single-phase variable-speed electric motors for air moving, pumping, woodworking machinery, and other commercial applications. Model 56-2 DynaMotor, with optional fan cooling, is UL listed, incorporates a NEMA 56 Frame and is suitable for applications up to 2hp and for 800 to 4800RPM

The DynaMotor successfully integrates the functionality of a variable-speed drive with an ac induction motor by embedding solid-state switches in the armature of the motor. With no additional programming or complex wiring to worry about, designers of air moving, pumping, food processing and woodworking machinery can simplify manufacturing designs, reduce inventory, and lower installation cost.

Since the DynaMotor does not use pulse-width-modulation for speed control, many of the problems inherent with traditional variable-speed motors are eliminated. The DynaMotor will not trip Ground Fault Current Interrupt outlets, produces virtually no EMI/RFI, and eliminates voltage spikes and line voltage reflections that can cause motor failures.

The DynaMotor is a single-phase AC motor with characteristics much like a dc motor. It provides built in speed control and high torque at low speed.  The motor interfaces to the outside world through a “personality” board that accepts 0-10V, serial, or other control signals.  It is available in various mounting configurations.
