Piezoelectric Biaxial Accelerometer

DytranInstruments Inc.'s model 3302A is a biaxial IEPE accelerometerdesigned to provide vibration monitoring within Active Vibration Control (AVC)applications typically found on commercial and military aircrafts.

Utilizinga biaxial design, theDytran model 3302A incorporates the mounting bracket and sensing elements in asingle package. This feature facilitates improved sensor performance whileeliminating the costs associated with employing separate accelerometers andmounting brackets. The design also offers reduced mass as compared toconventional sensors and mounting brackets. As an IEPE sensor, the model 3302Afeatures built-in electronics, eliminating the need for an external chargeamplifier and converter. Design of the model 3302A features quartz sensing elements, operating in shear mode and is packaged in a stainless steel housing (1.05 x1.21 x 0.48 inches). The Dytran model 3302A weighs 30 g, utilizes a 5/16-283-pin radial connector and offers vibration measurement capabilities up to 500grange, with a 10 mV/g sensitivity. Units are hermetically sealed for reliableoperation within high-humidity and dirty environments as well as case isolatedto avoid electromagnetic or ground loop interference.

With itsdurability, bracket-style mount and performance characteristics, the Dytranmodel 3302A is useful for high-reliability aircraft/airframe vibrationmeasurements, Health & Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), Rotor Track &Balance (RTB) and transmission vibration monitoring.
