Microsoft reaches out to UNIX users

In the on-going battle between UNIX and Windows NT, Microsoft offers a new strategy. The company is developing the Microsoft(reg) Windows NT(reg) Services for UNIX Add-On Pack, which, it says, will make it easier for customers to integrate Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0 into their existing UNIX environments. Windows NT Services for UNIX combines technologies developed internally, such as Telnet and password synchronization, with technologies licensed from third-party partners, specifically NFS from Intergraph and scripting tools from MKS. Microsoft plans to deliver a beta version of the Windows NT Services for UNIX Add-On Pack this summer for both Intel and Alpha platforms. E-mail [email protected].
