GEIntelligent Platforms' two new rugged single board computers are based on 2nd GenerationIntel Core i7 a euro ~Sandy Bridge' processors. The XCR14 6U CompactPCI and XVR14 6UVME platforms join the SBC324 3U VPX and SBC624 6U VPX single board computers. Boththe XCR14 and XVR 14 provide a choice of either dual- or quad-core 2ndGeneration Intel Core i7 processors operating at up to 2.5GHz, and a range of fourperformance/watt options, and up to 16GBytes of soldered DDR3 SDRAM with ECC.This, together with inbuilt graphics capability and Intel's AVX (AdvancedVector Extensions) technology, makes them useful for challenging applicationsin industry and telecommunications and especially for defense and aerospace applications beyond command and control such as signalprocessing in intelligence/surveillance/ reconnaissance (ISR) and radar/sonar.Both single board computers use GE's extensive ecosystem of CompactPCI and VME hardware and software, easing the development and integrationof complete systems, as well as from GE's industry-leading experience in longterm program support through its product lifecycle management (PLM) services.
Forexisting customers, these two new embedded computing platforms provide an upgradepath/technology insertion opportunity, The XCR14 and XVR14 are pin-compatible with theirpredecessors, the CR12 and VR12. Both platforms are available in five buildlevels, including air- and conduction cooled.
Inaddition to onboard I/O features including four Gigabit Ethernet ports, fiveUSB 2.0 ports, two DVI ports, VGA, audio and two COM ports, the XCR14 and XVR14also have two on-board mezzanine expansion sites (both PCI-X PMC/PCI ExpressXMC) capable for enhanced system flexibility. SATA ports are also supported.
Softwarechoices planned for the two single board computers, include Deployed TestSoftware (BIT and BCS) plus operating system support for Windows 7, Open Linux,Wind River Linux and VxWorks.
