TDK-Lambda Americas'new single-output CSS500 series are power factor corrected power supplies witha universal 90-264V ac, 47-63Hz input. These supplies feature a low leakagecurrent of less than 300AmuA at 264V ac, 63Hz and is designed to withstand 4kV ac,input-to-output. The series are available with an output voltage including:12, 24, 30, 36, 48, 54V or 57Vdc and have a power-saving operating efficiencyof up to 92 percent.

With convectioncooling (no fans required) these supplies provide up to 360W of output power. Forhigher power applications, with forced air cooling of 30CFM or 3.1 m/s, theoutput power increases to 500W. The forced air cooling can be provided byeither the user or via an optional fan/cover assembly. The convection cooledversion has a U-channel chassis that measures 4.7W x 8.0L x 1.5 inch H. Twooptional fan/cover configurations are available; one with the fan mounted onthe end of the chassis, and the other with the fan mounted on top of the metalcover. The optional fans are temperature-controlled and will automaticallychange speed as the output power and temperature varies.

The operatingtemperature range is from 0 to +70C, and the output is floating so it can beused as either a positive or negative polarity. Remote On/Off connections areprovided to allow for remote control of the supply. Other standard featuresinclude active-current-share (up to 4 units), internal ORing FET (forfault-tolerant apps), dc Good signal, plus overvoltage, overcurrent andovertemperature protections. A Fan-Fail signal is provided when the optionalfan/cover is ordered.

The CSS500 series have global medical safety agency approvalsper UL/IEC60601-1 as well as ITE and general purpose safety agency approvalsper UL/EN60950-1, are CE Marked, meet the conducted and radiated EMIrequirements of EN55011-B, EN55022-B and FCC Class B (which are much tougher tomeet than Class A), and they are RoHS compliant and are useful for applicationsin medical/dental, industrial automation, business, gaming, point-of-sale and instrumentationequipment, to name a few.
