The ranking of Inc.’s fastest-growing private engineering firms demonstrates the wide range of opportunities for engineers. Some of these companies are working with NASA, while others are building power plants or manufacturing facilities. Whatever your dream for your engineering career, you’re likely going to find a company on this list that’s doing that extraordinary work. Page through this gallery of companies, and you’ll see opportunities, whether it’s taking alternative energy to its next sustainable level or working on advanced analytics systems to improve US defense.

One of these firms is developing R&D in diagnostic ultrasound, while another is creating industrial systems, mechanical design, and electrical engineering specifically to support makers and small start-ups. Another is producing the technology to assist architects with the materials and techniques for building envelope restoration – fancy words for fixing the little lion heads that look down at us from New York skyscrapers.

The Inc. list is grouped by industry, including engineering, manufacturing, transportation, and others. The engineering category was impressive with its median growth of 151%, total revenues of $1.8 billion, and contributions of over 4,o48 jobs, according to Inc.
