Magnetic couplings

Permanent-magnet hysteresis couplings, developed for applications in bottle plug mechanisms, are designed to offer wear-free overload protection. According to the company, use of hysteresis material allows a constantly gliding, slip-free overload setting. The coupling requires no external air or electricity supply; a pneumatic plug cap lifting system can be integrated.

Flush-head studs

FH4(TM)self-clinching flush-head studs are designed to provide strong threads in stainless steel sheets as thin as 0.040 inch (1 mm). Upon installation, the studs reportedly create a flush-head assembly and lock securely with high torque-out and pushout resistances, without risk of loosening or falling out. Made from 400 series stainless steel, the studs are designed for use in stainless sheets with a hardness of HRB 92 or less. Available thread sizes include #4-40, 6-32, 8-32, and 10-32 (M3, 4, and 5) and lengths from 0.25 to 1.5 inches (6 to 35 mm).

The Self-piercing rivet assembly system is designed to operate at variable speeds, while monitoring and controlling setting forces at each rivet point. The system reportedly sets as many as 60 rivets per minute, joining steel, aluminum, and composite materials up to 9 mm thick. Fiber optic controls measure sheet thickness and rivet lengths and then automatically establish the setting force for each application. Dual drum feeders hold up to 40,000 rivets.

Thread sealing adhesive

PRECOTE(R)is a screw locking and thread sealing adhesive system intended for fastening applications in automotive, electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, and other high technology industries. The chemical adhesive features a microencapsulate process that keeps the epoxy resin and hardener separate-reportedly giving the fasteners a longer shelf life, and resistance to premature hardening due to chemical reactions of moisture or solvent penetration.

Glazing tape

Double-sided Arclad(R)PE 2000 series glazing tape is designed to offer high shear and internal strength when bonding PVC window frames to glass-reducing the potential for movement of the adhesive and glass during production and post-production of windows. The tape is available in 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8-inch thicknesses to suit manufacturing and design variables. It requires no cure time, adheres without ooze, and requires no cleanup, according to the company.

These blind and two-piece fasteners are intended for a range of applications, from appliances and shopping carts to aircraft, boats, railcars, and vehicles of all sizes. According to the company, they never need to be torqued and are vibration-resistant, with consistent clamping that reportedly never loosens. They come in a number of materials, diameters, and head styles, along with pneudraulic and hydraulic powered tools.

Huck International Inc.

Advanced Composite Products fasteners are made from engineering plastics in several grades and fiber reinforced combinations. They are reported to provide corrosion resistance, low magnetic permeability, and weight savings. The company recommends them for radio and radar equipment, and aerospace, marine, and medical applications.

Stainless steel swinghandles are available to drive either quarter-turn pawls or rod-latching systems. They are compatible with all the products in the company's standardized modular system. Identical installation openings are intended to simplify replacement of conventional swinghandles while the symmetrical design is said to permit installation in right- and left-hand doors. The handles are water- and dust-tight as defined in IP 65.

Drive studs

Drive studs are knurled, headed fasteners used to assemble components where the cost of hole preparation and assembly make threaded fasteners undesirable. The drive studs are stocked with both round and flat heads to meet the cosmetic and assembly needs of different applications. They are available in diameters from 1.5 through 6 mm, in varying lengths, in both low carbon and stainless steel.

Cable chain

E-series Triflex Energy Tubes carry energy supplies traveling over three levels or three axes. Based on the Easy Chain principle, hoses and cables can be inserted into the chain by pressing them through the plastic links. Also, the unit is designed to allow the cables to be removed the same way. The company recommends the chain for welding applications, handling, and assembly; tool changing at machining centers; coordinating tables; and swan-neck and pick-and-place robots.
