XRF lead-free testing for toys

RMD Instruments has introduced the LeadTracer-RoHS system. The tool is designed to be an advancement of XRF analysis technology. The instrument is designed specifically for the toy industry to provide fast, accurate and portable screening of lead in toys, costume jewelry, and other consumer products as well as assuring the product meets the RoHS lead-free directive.

The issue with high levels of lead in toys has become an increasing concern for toy manufacturers, distributors, importers and retailers. Toys are being recalled, banned and pulled from shelves due to lead content.

According to RMD Instruments, the LeadTracer-RoHS XRF goes beyond surface analysis and analyzes the entire body for potential lead-rich components. This speeds up the screening requirements and improves the overall throughput of the quality control process.
