Lloyds Systems' OmniBot/MI-6000
April 10, 2010
The Omnibot has been designed toclean, sanitize, disinfect, coat and seal all types of Heating, Ventilation andAir Conditioning (HVAC) ducts internally - from sizes of 15 x 12 inches to 48 x48 in one single pass. Larger ducts can be handled by multiple passes and asubset of the system may be used to clean, sanitize, disinfect, coat and sealvertical shafts in multistory buildings and high rises. The system can handle800 foot vertical ducts with access only to the bottom and top of the duct. Most buildings - commercial, industrial and government - have substantial HVACduct leakage. To combat duct leakage, design engineers have an increased focuson installation issues thus making it more challenging to design cost effectiveand energy efficient HVAC systems. The company says the Omnibot provides apowerful solution for nosocomial infection management in hospitals. It allowsfor complete source removal with the ability to chemically treat the internalduct surfaces for clean room or infection control purposes. These capabilitieslet design engineers focus on optimal function and cost effective designs asthe number of constraints are drastically reduced. Although there are several HVAC roboticmanufacturers, the company says its designs are the only ones with fullydigital video, recording and controls. This allows system miniaturization andone-hand operation so the operator may work efficient while staying OSHAcompliant. The patent pending even-application and self-centering capabilitiesare other important differentiation factors that reduce chemical usage by 40 percent.
