Extruded polymers come in variety of formulations
October 4, 1999
Insultab extruded medical polymers can be manufactured from a wide range of materials and purchased as standard or heat shrinkable tubing in prototype to production quantities.
Options include: HS-714 heat shrinkable tubing that meets Class V1 requirements and is compatible with most popular sterilization processes; PVC in bright colors; multiple durometers; polyolefin that provides good chemical and heat resistance; Elvax(R) for pliability and toughness; Surlyn(R) for high impact resistance; and other formulations.
Multiple polymers are available such as PVC, polyolefin, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, EVA, ethylene copolymer, ionomer, and various alloys. Color matching is available. Multiple sizes, configurations, shrink ratios, and lengths can also be specified.
INSUL-SEAL(R) tubing includes an inner wall of specially formulated adhesive which melts and flows to provide a permanent, moisture- and corrosion- resistant seal, and comes in polyolefin and PVC varieties to meet the demands of various applications. Multi-Wall PVC products provide superior bonding and will not deteriorate over time.
Tubing sizes range from 0.010 to 2 inches I.D. with walls from 0.005 to 0.5 inch, depending on the I.D. Put-ups include cut pieces from 0.13 inch to 10 ft bagged, boxed, or spooled. Prices vary according to material, size, quantity, and customer requirements. Applications include medical and surgical instruments.
