NXP Semiconductors' TDA18260is a dual silicon tuner for cable. The TDA18260 simplifies the design ofhigh-definition multi-tuner cable set-top boxes, enabling up to 6 channels withhigh performance on each stream. The dual cable silicon tuner IC eliminatestuner-to-tuner interference as well as the need to add RF components such aslow-noise amplifiers, splitters, Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) filters and incrementalcrystal oscillators. NXP Semiconductors says the TDA18260 reduces the overall cost, size and power consumption of feature-richset-top boxes or gateways, even as the number of tuners per STB increases dueto growing demand for services such as watch and record, video on demand andhigh-speed Internet. The TDA18260 also allows handling of multiple streams ofHD 3DTV.
