Medtech startups participating in The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council’s (MassMEDIC) MedTech IGNITE Growth Challenge 2020 Cohort competed in the BIOMEDigital StartUp Stadium on November 4. Attendees of the virtual event were invited to listen to each company’s pitch and then vote for their favorite to advance during IGNITE’s program.
Developed to attract and nurture the next generation of medtech founders and entrepreneurs, the MedTech IGNITE Program is a virtual accelerator offering an experiential training, mentorship, and networking curriculum, according to MassMEDIC. The program was relaunched in 2019 with a cohort of 16 companies and included MassChallenge winner Azadeh Khanicheh of Envision Endoscopy, BRIght Future Prize winner Natalie Artzi of BioDevek, and Sarah Kalil, co-founder and CEO of CoreMap, which recently secured $10.5M in Series A funding.
This year, 22 startups are competing for up to $70,000 in cash and in-kind services. Click here to hear the pitches that were given by several of the companies during BIOMEDigital. (The event is available on demand.) Sponsors include Agile Search, Greenlight Guru, MedWorld Advisors, and ThermoFisher Scientific.
"The MassMEDIC MedTech IGNITE 2020 cohort is a diverse mix of talented founders from around the world who were selected by a committee of seasoned medtech entrepreneurs, investors, and executives. From MDs to first time founders, the IGNITE 2020 cohort is addressing a wide range of unmet needs in oncology, dermatology, transplant medicine, surgery, audiology, women’s health, and more,” said Rachel Robinson, vice president of MassMEDIC. “The IGNITE accelerator program identifies and is developing the next generation of startup medtech companies. The Start Up Stadium IGNITE company presentations confirm that nurturing and support from the community is critical to helping entrepreneurs succeed. We congratulate the IGNITE 2020 Cohort and thank all of our sponsors, steering committee, mentors, and IGNITE advisors."
