Free Industrial AM Database Adds Over 100 Machines and Materials

The free, searchable Senvol Database that we told you about this past spring now has added data on over 100 new machines and materials for industrial additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing (3DP). This brings the total to more than 450 machines and 550 materials.

The new additions include AFS, Arkema, Cincinnati Inc., Cosine Additive, H.C. Starck, Helix 3D, Huake 3D, Hoganas, Roland, and Xery 3D Printing Tech. Existing database companies we've written about include 3D Systems, EOS and Stratasys, as well as 3DP Unlimited, Arcam, Concept Laser, ExOne, Optomec, Renishaw and Sciaky.

In order to be included as "industrial," machines and materials must be non-desktop and designed for professional use, according to the website's FAQ. The FAQ also says the database was originally created as an in-house tool. The database is updated continuously, and user feedback is welcome.

The Senvol Database is divided into two different sections: one for machines and one for materials. You can search using over 30 different fields. For materials, these include material type, material manufacturer, and mechanical, thermal, and physical properties such as tensile strength or glass transition temperature. For machines, the fields include machine manufacturer, machine build size, and type of AM process.

Users can fill out as much or as little information as they prefer. For example, you can search for materials from a particular supplier, or with a specific property. You can also search multiple fields at once, such as titanium materials that have an elongation at break of at least 8%. In both sections, you can also search without specifying any single field.
