Engineers, Vendors Set to Meet at National Manufacturing Week

More than 1,000 exhibitors are poised to set up their displays for the February 23 opening of National Manufacturing Week at Chicago's McCormick Place.

The four-show event, which will feature everything from the latest in computer-aided design software to sophisticated test and measurement systems, is expected to attract about 30,000 visitors looking for new products and solutions to existing design problems.

The four shows cover all facets of manufacturing. Visitors can choose between The National Design Engineering Show, The National Plant Engineering and Facilities Management Show, The National Industrial Automation Show, or The National Enterprise IT Show. In addition to exhibitors, each show has its own set of conferences where visitors can learn about and discuss new technology and the latest trends in their respective fields.

The National Design Engineering Show will feature several pavilions showcasing specific technologies. Among the pavilions:

  • CAD/CPD/PLM, sponsored by CADwire.net

  • Ceramics, sponsored by the American Ceramic Society

  • Contract Manufacturing

  • Electronics, sponsored by ECN magazine

  • Fluid Power and Control, sponsored by the Fluid Power Society

  • Motion Technology, sponsored by the Power Transmission Distributors Association

He has also co-authored legislation to keep jobs in the U.S. by offering a lower tax rate based on domestic production.

  • Dr. Jeffrey L. Bluestein, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. He'll talk about the first 100 years of the great American motorcycle company.

  • Dr. J. Victor Lebacqz, NASA's Associate Administrator for Aerospace Technology, who will speak on the R&D issues confronting the nation in aeronautics and space.

  • David Nelson, President of Global Supply Management, Delphi Corp., who will discuss the latest edition of the Manufacturing ISM Report on Business and its conclusions on the status of the manufacturing sector.
