Polestar Shows Splashy EVs at New York Auto Show
Swedish automaker unveils an SUV and a four-door SUV coupe with powerful motors and blazing acceleration.
Upstart Swedish automaker Polestar used the New York International Auto Show to introduce two new electric vehicles to a throng of curious journalists last week.
The first of the two models is the Polestar 3, which has traditional SUV styling. The 3’s standard dual long-range motor is rated 360 kW (489 hp) and generates 620 lb-ft of torque, reaching 0 to 60 mph in a dazzling 4.8 sec. It has a 315-mile range.

The 3 is also available in a Performance Pack version whose motor is rated 380 Kw (517 hp) and generating 671 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 sec and has a 279-mile range.
The second of the two models is a Polestar 4, which the company touts as an SUV coupe. With its standard long-range single motor, the 4 is rated 200 Kw (272 hp) and generates 253 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 sec and has a 300-mile range. But with a dual motor, the 4 is rated 400 Kw (544 hp) and generates 506 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 0 to 60 mph in a blinding 3.7 sec and has a 270-mile range.
The Polestar 3 SUV will be priced from $73,400, while the Polestar 4 will be priced from $54,900.
