With the school year now ending, the thoughts of many families turn to travel. This could be a day trip, or for those more fortunate several days or even weeks, which means loading up the car or packing for a bus, train, plane, or ship personal belongings for that trip to the beach, mountains, or other destination either here or abroad.

Though COVID-19 has by no means disappeared, infection rates have lowered in many global regions, and with many more people fully vaccinated and tested, there is much less hesitancy this year about traveling. The pent-up demand to travel is very much evident in packed airplanes and soaring airfares. Rapidly rising energy costs, including an unprecedented rise in gasoline prices, don’t seem to be stopping people from traveling either.

Because we are such a connected society, many of us pack multiple pieces of electronic gear so we can record the places and people we see as well as carry some of the comforts of home, such as books and music, along with us. While the smartphone has managed to consolidate many personal functions, such as the camera, onto the same device as the phone, many consumers still like the added capabilities that discrete electronics gear offer.

For those consumers, here’s a compilation of products (and important accessories) that some may consider “must-haves” or at least significantly enhance our experiences as we explore the world beyond our daily surroundings this summer.
