April 12, 2010
MATERIALS: Elastocon TPE Technologies Inc. produced a line of clear, phthalate-free TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers). They are offered as alternatives to PVC tubing.
Elastocon® CLR Series transparent thermoplastic elastomers are available in 65 and 75 Shore A harnesses’, giving tubing a soft feel. They were developed for applications that require oil/plasticizer free and non-blooming high strength properties. The CLR Series feature excellent clarity and flexibility, offer high strength, provide a high degree of softness, have high resilience (especially for various strap applications), plus have good clamp resilience and resistance to kinking and necking. Selected grades can be overmolded onto polypropylene.
Available in ready-to-use pellets in 1000 lb or as concentrates, the plasticizer-free TPEs are FDA compliant and well suited for applications requiring UV stability.
