Range Rover sought to give the 2024 Range Rover Velar and Evoque a minimalist new cabin, eliminating most of the buttons and consolidating the existing dual center displays into a single large one. 

To do this, engineers had to design a center console that would accommodate the new display, while meeting customer and regulatory requirements. 

Senior product manager Peter Travers explains.
