Televised classic car auctions showcase impressive vintage cars, but the astronomical prices such events produce can make it seem impossible for normal people to have fun with an old car or classic memorabilia.

The recent "Handle with Fun" auction by RM Sotheby's aimed to dispel that impression with the sale of affordable fun cars and the kind of mechanical toys that would likely appeal to gearheads and would-be gearheads.

The auction was conducted entirely online, with 340 different lots attracting 3,600 bids. Exactly as hoped, 46 percent of the bidders, who hailed from 20 different countries, were new to RM Sotheby's.

Winning bidders had to collect their purchases from Madison, Georgia. Hopefully the cars' buyers drove them home!
