A simple, low-cost 6-axis unit packs full-scale tooling, control, and networking capabilities for pick-and-place, parts handling, and palletizing applications.

Epson’s Aaron Donlon says the “most exciting thing about robotics is ease of use and costs,” which are coming down, as in the case of the compact all-in-one VT6L model, which offers big features at low cost (starting at US$13,900). With its 990-millimeter reach and 6-kilogram payload capacity, Donlon says it’s suitable for pick-and-place, machine tending, dispensing, packaging, pallet loading, and assembly applications.

The compact robot can be mounted on a table, wall, or ceiling. Compactness continues with a wrist pitch that can access hard-to-reach areas and confined spaces in packaging and converting. Built-in controls, software, and networking (including Fieldbus) provide full-scale automation features. Options include Cleanroom ISO4 and IP67 specifications, end-of-arm tooling choices, integrated vision, and a teach pendant.

Epson VT6L All-in-One 6 Axis Robot was presented during 2020 Virtual Engineering Week (see video below).
