Linear Motor Stages for Precision Motion

Aerotech'sPRO LM series of linear motor stages are offered in four different series with38 different models in travels from 100 mm to 1.5 m. The PRO165LM, PRO225LM, PRO280LM and PRO560LM make up the Aerotech PRO LMseries of linear motor stages. They all feature a linear motion guide bearingsystem and brushless linear servomotor and is useful in industrial applicationssuch as laser machining, medical component manufacturing, and otherapplications requiring precise, smooth motion in a production environment.

The non-magnetic forcer coil provides high force with zero cogging for smoothvelocity and position control. This zero-cogging design is useful forapplications requiring outstanding contour accuracy and smooth velocityprofiling. Aerotech's linear motor stages have zero backlash and no windup. Themagnetic field of the linear motor is self-contained within the U-channeldesign, making these stages well-suited for high-performance applications thatcannot tolerate the stray magnetic fields generated by flat motor magnettracks.

Noncontact linear encoders with micron-level repeatabilities are standard onall PRO LM series stages. Either a line-driver output or amplified sine-waveoutput encoder is available. The optional HALAR factory calibration further increasesthe standard accuracy and repeatability. Sealed linear motion guide bearingswith integral wipers are incorporated to provide excellent payload capacity andlong life. Both the metal waycover and tabletop are treated with a hardcoatthat is scratch-resistant and provides outstanding protection in the harshestapplications, while the tabletop utilizes stainless steel Helicoil inserts toprotect mounting holes against thread wear. Several tabletop options areavailable for metric or English mounting, as well as for direct interface withour popular ADRS, ADRT, and AGR rotary stages. Configurable cable managementoptions are available for single- or multi-axis systems.
