Compact actuator combines rotary/linear motion

DSL pneumatic actuators feature rotary, linear, and simultaneous rotary/linear actuation--in a single module. Components include a vane-type rotary actuator and linear cylinder, both double-acting.

Inductive or electric proximity sensors, mounted in grooves along the linear actuator, allow intermediate- and end-piston position sensing. Since these sensors are flush with the actuator barrel, the module fits through apertures and bulkheads. For angle of rotation, inductive sensors mount directly to the back of the rotary actuator.

Rotary motion is adjustable to 270 degrees; linear strokes to 100 mm (4 inches). High torque output to 10 Nm (88 in-lb) and forces to 95 lbf are possible, depending on the size selected.

In addition, the rotary actuator stop mechanism is separate from the vane so resulting forces are absorbed bythe stops and not the vane itself. Fitting the modules with shock absorbers on either the left, right, or both sides reduces end-of-stroke bounce.

DSL Series rotary/linear actuators are available in four metric bore sizes: 16, 20, 25, and 32 mm, with double-ended or hollow double-ended piston rod options. Piston rod attachments include rod flange and a full line of pneumatic grippers. Compact, space-saving design and lightweight construction make the DSL ideal for tight-space robotic applications.
