Since the shift of Germany's premiere motor show from Frankfurt to Munich, the event has been recast as IAA Mobility, with the inclusion of e-bikes and other forms of personal transportation.
There are 750 exhibitors from 38 countries, but it is still substantially Germany's auto show. Accordingly, the big German carmakers brought out new models and technology to show customers.
That means new production and concept cars from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen, plus BMW subsidiary Mini.
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder recognized this reality in his remarks. "IAA Mobility and Bavaria are a perfect match," he said. "We are committed to the car. Mobility is part of our Bavarian DNA and stands for progress and freedom. Future concepts for modern and sustainable mobility of tomorrow are presented here."
