Vertical stand

Vertical stand improves the ball bar evaluation of coordinate measuring machines according to ANSI B89.4.1-1997. The stand does this by solving the deflection problems associated with the free-standing ball bar by providing an extremely rigid support for it. A heavy interference fit fixes the rigid 2-inch diameter, hard-surfaced vertical column into the massive 25-lb solid cast-iron base. The base's bottom has three hard, stainless-steel feet lapped flat and coplanar to provide a microinch stable location surface.
