The FDM Quantum rapid-prototyping system incorporates MagnaDrive technology and achieves fast throughput and part quality. The system also features an extra-large build envelope for creating big prototypes and tooling patterns and masters. MagnaDrive uses the same technology is used in high-accuracy pick-and-place machines for semiconductor manufacturing. An extrusion head, containing an electromagnetic motion-control unit, is pulled toward a steel plate above. The head is simultaneously pushed away from the plate's surface by a cushion of air.
