Yahoo!-Engineering spreads across the 'Net

Thursday, January 18, 2001

You can find nearly anything on the Internet, but engineers have always been fenced off from general-interest virtual communities, confined to highly niched technical websites.

Now engineering is going mainstream. This week, uber-site Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com) began offering access to Thomas Register (www.thomasregister.com), the site for buying and sourcing technical products and services.

You can find links to Thomas Register's database at two of Yahoo!'s specialty sites: B2B Marketplace (http://b2b.yahoo.com) and Electronics Marketplace (http://industrymarketplaces.yahoo.com). These business-oriented sites are designed to offer information and services including research, news, and purchasing. The Thomas Register database features more than 156,000 American and Canadian manufacturers, sorted into more than 63,000 types of products and services, nearly 8,000 online catalogs, and access to millions of downloadable CAD drawings.
