SOFTWARE PACKAGE

With symbol library

A new software package that allows engineers to design professional-looking front panels for homemade or small production run devices, FrontDesigner features a range of drawing functions for rectangles, polygons, ellipses, labels, drillings, etc., and all objects can be grouped into complex symbols. Specialized functions cope with rotation, stretching, mirroring, drilling, and milling. Rounded and interpolated contours are possible as well as chamfers. Users can print out a mirror image on transparent film so the symbols won't wear off when it is mounted. Saelig Co. Inc.http://rbi.ims.ca/4396-614

FEA SOFTWARE

For virtual testing

The company's next finite element analysis (FEA) software release, V17.1, is designed to help companies virtually test and predict real-world behavior of new and existing product designs; speed up time to market; and make better, safer products at a lower cost. It features an easy-to-use single user interface that provides direct CAD/CAE data exchange and full associativity with most CAD solid modelers. This enables users to choose the analysis tools they need. ALGOR Inc.http://rbi.ims.ca/4396-615

INDUSTRIAL MOTHERBOARD

Offers scalable solutions

The industrial motherboard EMB-900M is reportedly the first board that supports the Intel 915GV Express chipset, and the first time that the company uses the MicroATX format with an ISA bus slot. It is designed to offer a scalable solution across different processing speeds, as well as provide an improved performance over previous solutions. It is suitable for a variety of applications, including high-end POS/KIOSK and Gigabit fire wall and security applications. AAEONhttp://rbi.ims.ca/4396-616

CAD PACKAGE

Drag-and-drop symbols

SPlan is a CAD package that is engineered for quickly and neatly drawing electronic and electric circuit diagrams. Equipped with drawing and editing functions for efficient circuit design, the package also includes features such as automatic component numbering and auto-generation of components lists. It is designed to create high-quality printouts that can be previewed to adjust scale and position of the print. Users can drag and drop symbols from the library to the diagram, and symbols lock to a grid. Other features include components list, component library, and automatic numbering. Saelig Co. SOFTWARE

Supports synchronization

The FeatureCAM software release features a new 4-axis functionality that is seamlessly integrated into the product's existing turning programs. Combined with its new full machine simulation, synchronized turning provides users with full program control and cycle time reduction. It supports synchronization, follow turning, and pinch turning. Machines with dual spindles and up to four turrets, common in production turning environments such as automotive and aerospace manufacturing, can be programmed. In addition, the machine simulation is engineered to allow setup attributes for each type of machine, including horsepower and preferred feeds and speeds, according to the company. SOFTWARE

Frequency adjusted independently

AudioWave2.0 software is designed to turn a user's sound card into an easy-to-use digitally controlled LF signal generator, producing signals from 1 Hz to 20 kHz with a resolution of 1 Hz. Phase shift between left and right channel is adjustable from -180 to +180 degrees, and an attenuator can be used for steps of 0, -3, -6, -10, -20, and -30 dB. Frequency, level, and attenuation can be adjusted independently for left and right channel, which can be ganged as an option. Saelig Co. Inc.http://rbi.ims.ca/4396-619

SERVICE PACK

Support for AutoCAD

The latest service pack from the company is designed to add support for AutoCAD version 2006 and Autodesk Inventor version 10. It provides native viewing, printing, markup, digital mock-up, and real-time collaboration support for engineering drawings, 2D CAD, 3D CAD parts and assemblies, PCB layouts and schematics, and office documents. It is available as a Desktop Edition and a Client-Server Edition for Windows or UNIX servers. Cimmetry Systemshttp://rbi.ims.ca/4396-620
