Cimmetry Releases AutoVue 19.2
October 5, 2007
Cimmetry’s recently released the latest version of its enterprise visualization software, AutoVue 19.2. This latest release aims to alleviate problems associated with viewing and adding comments on native software files. The software allows users to view over 450 file types including 2D CAD, 3D CAD and EDA files and comment on them through a non-destructive method.
The software is available as both desktop- and Web-based. “We really maintain and protect document integrity and document security,” says Audrey Mae Abrigo, solutions consultant for Cimmetry. “Security in the sense that no one gets their hands on these files; they always stay on the server, and integrity in the sense that because we are a viewing application we access (the file) in terms of reading, but we don’t actually write to the file in any way, shape or form.”
In addition to viewing files, users can comment on them using anchored tags categorized by author and topic in side navigation. The comments are then saved as a separate markup file. The software also features advanced search, viewing and printing methods.
AutoVue has pop-up navigation windows such as bird’s eye view and magnification. The bird’s eye view provides users with a reference image of the entire document so they can zoom in and not get lost in a highly magnified view. The magnification view box will magnify the area surrounding the mouse pointer and follow its movement so that a user can get a closer look without zooming in any further.
The print features within AutoVue include force to black, which allows a black-and-white printer to better handle color imagery, zoom-to-print, which allows a user to select a specific area of the document and print it to the printer’s paper size, watermarks, timestamps and additional comments for the printout.
“We don’t actually work with a converted format, where you might end up losing some intelligence of the file,” says Abrigo. The files maintain all their original data to allow users the ability to take measurements and provide analysis.
The software is packaged as Office, 2D Professional, 3D Professional Advanced, EDA Professional and Electro-Mechanical Professional. Each package has a range of coverage with the Electro-Mechanical Professional package having the broadest coverage.
