Android and iPhone Apps Debut for Aras PLM

Talk about the beauty of having a diverse partner network. On the heels of announcing a partner to develop search capabilities for its PLM platform, open source vendor Aras announced this week the development of Android and iPhone mobile applications that specifically work with its Aras Innovator PLM platform. The apps, developed by Aras partner Porchys, allow companies to extend all the product-related data and PLM processes to their mobile users on the go. With this first-generation of Android and iPhone apps, users will be able to securely access, manage and edit information in Aras from their smartphone, and the apps can be configured and extended to support company-specific processes. Aras President Peter Schroer cited the new mobile apps as a “great example of the benefits of an open source approach.” He just might be right.
